TOPIC: How being a pioneer in the development of PPVC construction led to a record-breaking project.

Allan Tan has worked in construction for 40 years, on projects in Africa, Asia and Europe. In Singapore for the last 20 years he has gained vast experience spearheading construction innovation and technology. He engages with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and developers in helping to shape the built environment.

Most recently he has pioneered development and implementation of the steel and concrete pre-fabricated, pre-finished volumetric construction (PPVC) system. Working with BCA and consultants Tan has pushed for widespread adoption of PPVC. He has implemented it on residential, healthcare and hotel projects, including the world’s tallest PPVC project, Singapore’s Avenue South Residence.

Tan set up his company United Tec Construction in 2018. Orders booked have exceeded a total of S$1 billion (US$ 745 million) and the company has been awarded contracts for six PPVC projects.

He is passionate about the built environment and is continuing to grow his company while pushing the adoption of innovative methods to improve productivity.
