ROUND-TABLE: new developments in wind turbine construction
Klaus Meissner began working in the crane industry in 1988 at Demag in Zweibrücken, Germany, now part of Terex Cranes.
From 2002 he was in charge of research and development for telescopic and crawler cranes at Zweibrücken. Since January 2008 he was responsible for product safety co-ordination and intellectual property management as director, product integrity, at Terex Cranes, covering all products, a role he now holds for Demag Mobile Cranes, within Tadano.
Meissner is also an appointed expert for mobile crane approval by the German health and safety authority. He also works with different European standards committees on crane safety standards.
He was convenor of the working group that developed EN 13000, the European safety standard for mobile cranes, and is president of the product group for mobile cranes within the Fédération Européenne de la Manutention (FEM), the European federation for manufacturers of materials handling and lifting equipment.
