Topic: How a new way of thinking about cranage is delivering benefits on large and complex projects.

Marr Contracting is a third-generation family-owned Australian crane and engineering business with Simon Marr as managing director. The company is challenging the global construction industry to think differently about craneage solutions.

With more than 35 years in the industry, Simon started in the family business as a yard boy cleaning bolts during the school holidays. Today he is leading the business to challenge craneage methodologies and develop new craneage solutions for large-scale, complex projects across the construction, mining, oil and gas, power generation, agriculture and public infrastructure sectors across the world.

Simon has overseen the successful delivery of craneage solutions for projects that include the following: the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Turkey; ICDB Brookfield Place in Dubai; ALEC One Za’abeel in Dubai; the ALBA Potline 6 in Bahrain; the Chevron-operated Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG projects in Western Australia; and the Sydney Metro station Martin Place, Barangaroo, Castle Hill and Central.
